our clinical birth-worker program
The Clinical Birth-worker Program at the Black Girls Mental Health Collective Foundation (BGMHCF) is an initiative dedicated to transforming perinatal mental health support for Black birthing individuals. Currently, this program is open to graduate level student interns (Marriage & Family Therapist programs, Social Work programs, professional counseling programs etc). This program bridges clinical expertise with community-based support to address the unique mental health and wellness needs of Black mothers and families during the perinatal period. Our mission is to provide culturally affirming, trauma-informed care that ensures birthing individuals receive the mental, emotional, and physical support they deserve. Through this program, we aim to foster a community where Black mothers are empowered, supported, and equipped with the tools for resilience and holistic well-being. By integrating advanced perinatal mental health training, therapeutic services, and comprehensive resources, the Clinical Birth-Worker Program actively works to dismantle systemic barriers in maternal health care.
