About the Program

Brilliant Beginnings expands access to perinatal mental health support, financial literacy, and early childhood development resources for families in Oakland. We provide trauma-informed care through parent workshops, therapy access, and birth worker training to ensure every family has the tools to create a stable, college-bound environment.

How Brilliant Beginnings Works

For Parents:

Referral & Enrollment: Families are referred through Alameda County schools and providers.

Attend Support Programs: Parents participate in Bringing Home Baby and CommunEmpower, two structured, trauma-informed programs.

Gain Financial Literacy: Parents attend workshops on budgeting, savings, and financial planning for their child’s education.

For Providers:

Enroll in Perinatal Mental Health Training: Learn trauma-informed techniques to better support Black families.
